Rise Primers · 11 — Legacy, Alts and Collections

65 points. 16 to spend. Alts optional.

Legacy is account-wide challenge progression with per-character choices — and the most misunderstood system in Forever. The core rules, the six challenge families, transmog's collection rules, and the three mistakes that cost people money.

The challenge families

The system offers 65 earnable points, but each character can spend 16 at launch. Points are earned account-wide; allocations are independent per character, and the cap is reachable on a single character — alts are optional (facts wf-0118, wf-0119, wf-0120). Legacy unlocks with your first point — typically at level 25, or 150 in a non-gathering primary tradeskill, or exploring the entire world map — and opens with the shield icon or the Y hotkey. The perk trees are Professions, Adventure, and Resourcefulness; points beyond the spending cap feed a cosmetic reward track carrying a toy, a pet, a tabard, and a mount (fact wf-0122). Hardcore is separate: ordinary progress does not flow inward, while Hardcore-earned challenges credit everywhere (fact wf-0125).

Transmog: collections without the roll fight

Transmog is opt-in at the player level: configure outfits at a transmogrifier in certain cities, or disable the system entirely and see everyone in their real equipped gear — you still collect appearances while it is disabled. Appearances are same-type only, and low-level characters cannot display high-level appearances until 60, cosmetic-only items excepted. In dungeons, a Bind-on-Pickup Uncommon or Rare drop grants its appearance to all eligible looters when looted, so nobody needs to roll for an appearance against an upgrade need; Epic raid appearances bind only to the player who receives the item (facts wf-0144, wf-0145, wf-0146). Owning an appearance does not mean every character can display it immediately — record source, faction, level, binding, and type restrictions before planning around one.

Three expensive misunderstandings

One: the beta's free test points and one-silver resets were not launch entitlements — live respec pricing climbs quickly and decreases only once per week, deliberately not cheap (fact wf-0111). Two: Bartering does not reduce training or repair prices (beta notes, via the guides pack). Three: Reagent Economy concerns purchasable reagents — it does not justify removing Soul Shards from a Warlock's supply plan (beta notes, via the guides pack). A related caution: Field Medicine is described as excluding dungeons, raids, and battlegrounds, per Blizzard's Legacy article as cited in the pack — not yet in the verified database. Keep total earned, maximum spendable now, allocated, and unallocated as four distinct numbers in your notes; the reviewed evidence does not establish the fastest complete 16-point route, final live respec pricing, or the best allocation for every role.
