Rise Primers · 06 — Professions, Camping and Gold

Professions, camping, and honest gold.

Two primaries and every secondary, a campsite system with real rules, a new supply economy — and accounting that refuses to call unsold inventory profit.

The system, section by section

CampingThree features, one per player, one real minute

A character can take two primary professions and all three secondaries (fact wf-0130). Cooking's Basic Campfire creates a shared campsite holding three features, one contributed per player; sit or craft for at least a minute to receive their benefits. Features share a one-hour cooldown, and their effects conflict with equivalent class buffs — they do not stack (fact wf-0126). First features arrive at profession skill 20; advanced features, at skill 140 and above, come from Blueprint recipes dropped by dungeon and raid bosses (fact wf-0127).

What a camp givesCheck the live tooltip

Per Blizzard's camping article (fact wf-0128): the First Aid Kit grants Stamina; the Fishing Bowl grants +8% stats; the Incense Candle grants Intellect; Skinning grants 2% critical chance; the Tailoring banner grants Spirit; Alchemy contributes a Mana Well and a placeable lab; the Leatherworking Tanning Rack is required for advanced recipes. Blacksmithing's Sharpening Wheel is listed as Strength in the dedicated article and as Attack Power in an older recap — the database carries both, so verify on the live tooltip. Rested experience also accrues at campsites (beta reporting, fact wf-0204).

ChoosingWhat does it do for you this week?

Do not select two professions solely to complete a photographed endgame build. Write what each provides during the next several sessions — materials income, consumable self-sufficiency, equipment you will actually wear, group support, or a collection goal. If neither contributes before a distant milestone, a less expensive start may fit better. A crafting profession can still be worthwhile because you enjoy it; label that a preference rather than proving profitability with imaginary prices.

First AidWorth a second look

Current Forever guides document healing potions moving to First Aid from Alchemy — a community-guide claim (Wowhead's First Aid guide), not yet in the verified database, so confirm the trainer, level, and materials in game before planning around it. The same guides distinguish interrupted bandaging from a completed channel: an interruptible bandage is not an instant emergency cleanse.

Gold disciplineThree measures, kept separate

Net cash flow is money received minus money paid. Realized profit counts completed sales only: receipts minus materials, vendor components, unrecovered selling costs, and other direct costs. Unsold inventory at cost is neither cash nor profit. Measure elapsed effort including gathering, travel, crafting, listing, and relisting, and protect a reserve for skills, travel, repairs, and bag capacity before any speculative crafting. Beta notes changed common and uncommon crafted wand vendor values to one copper, so old vendor-shuffle advice needs rechecking (beta-sourced).

Merchant's FavorThe supply economy

Fill supply crates for your faction trading company — Alliance: the Azeroth Commerce Authority at Three Corners, Redridge; Horde: Durotar Supply and Logistics, outside Crossroads in the Barrens — earning Merchant's Favor to spend on recipes and rewards (fact wf-0134, official). Compare crates by net cost per Favor: crate cost plus input value, minus gold returned, divided by Favor received; keep reputation and recipe-unlock value as separate decisions. Community guides also report Craftsman's Writs as another reputation path — confirm requirements and rewards before spending (community-sourced).

The guild split Guild ruling — launch plan

Shinshiro (Warrior): Mining and Blacksmithing. Ben (Rogue): Mining and Engineering at launch, moving to Herbalism and Alchemy when raids open on December 9. Toai (Hunter): Skinning and Leatherworking. Alyssa (Priest): Tailoring and Enchanting. New members: tell the officers what you are running in #introductions — the guild coordinates coverage so camps, crafts, and consumables are never one person's accident.
